As Gas Plants Reach Capacity, ONEOK Announces New ND Facility
On the heels of completing a gas plant in McKenzie County, ND, ONEOK Inc. is building a companion gas plant at a cost of $410 million. The new plant is scheduled to come on line in the first quarter of 2020.
The 200 Mmcf per day Demicks Lake II plant is to be located on ONEOK’s acreage northeast of Watford City, and will be the sixth processing facility built by ONEOK.
“Continued production growth across the basins ONEOK services requires additional NGL fractionation and natural gas processing capacity,” said president and CEO Terry K. Spencer. “Additional natural gas gathering and processing capacity in the Williston Basin is critical to supporting record-setting crude oil and natural gas production in North Dakota and helping producers meet regional natural gas capture targets.”
The Demicks Lake I plant is already under construction, and is expected to reach its 200 Mmcf a day capacity shortly after it is completed in the fourth quarter of 2019, Spencer said.
Both plants are expected to contribute additional NGL volumes to its pipeline system and natural gas to the Northern Border pipeline.
Bringing both plants online will increase processing capacity in the Williston Basin to more than 1.4 billion cubic feet per day.
